| Meyer guesses right on fake punt OXFORD — Florida coach Urban Meyer said he has known Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron for a long time. So when the Rebels trotted their punt team on the field late in the fourth quarter, he didn't think Orgeron would actually punt the ball. "He's going to try to win the game," Meyer said. Meyer's gut instincts were right and it helped third-ranked Florida avoid disaster and hold on for a 30-24 win in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday. Ole Miss punter Justin Sparks flipped a short pass to tight end Robert Lane on fourth-and-11 with 3:09 left, but the senior was blanketed by Florida strong safety Tony Joiner. Lane slipped the tackle, but couldn't get to the first down marker and was tackled after an 8-yard gain. The Gators got the ball back and ran out the clock. It was the second straight week Ole Miss has run a fake punt in the fourth quarter. At Vanderbilt, strong safety Jamarca Sanford took a direct snap and rumbled for a first down; Ole Miss quarterback Brent Schaeffer tossed a 54-yard touchdown pass on the next play. The Rebels were hoping to have some success again against Florida's punt block team. But after sending the unit on the field, Meyer called a timeout and reconsidered. Meyer guesses right on fake punt
