SEC Football: Vandy's Bennett finds way

OXFORD — Ole Miss cornerback Cassius Vaughn didn't have anything special to say about Vanderbilt's Earl Bennett.

The sophomore didn't compare his size and speed to anyone else he has faced. He didn't dissect his route-running abilities or evaluate his pass-catching skills.

Instead, when Vaughn was asked what impressed him the most about the Commodores' record-breaking receiver on Wednesday, he offered this simple assessment: "He's good. ... That's really all you can say."

What better way to sum up Bennett, who will be keeping Vaughn and the Rebels (1-1) busy when the teams meet in Vanderbilt Stadium on Saturday night at 6. The preseason All-American isn't the biggest or fastest receiver in the Southeastern Conference, but he's good. So good, in fact, he's rewriting the Vanderbilt record books and is on pace to become the SEC's career receptions leader this fall.

So finding a way to slow the 6-foot-1, 202-pound Bennett will be a very big challenge.

Re: SEC Football: Vandy's Bennett finds way

During three-game stretch late in season (Duke, Florida and Kentucky), Bennett amassed 33 catches, 561 receiving yards and 3 TDs...

Future first rounder maybe? Anyone agree?
