| Ole Miss football: With Adams' help, Rebel receivers making noise OXFORD — Mike Wallace insisted he simply needed a chance. He was perfect by no means, but the Ole Miss receiver believed he had the size, speed and pass catching ability to make an impact. The junior, who is the most experienced member of a young and thin receiving corps, really couldn't stomach being used for little more than a downfield blocker again. So it's no surprise that two days after his seven-catch, 138-yard performance in last Saturday's 38-25 loss to Missouri, Wallace was beaming as he sat in the team meeting room Monday morning. "I've been telling everybody I could do it if I just got the ball," Wallace said. "I just had to wait my turn. Hopefully they'll keep getting me the ball." The confident Wallace was talking about his personal struggles to play a big role in the offense, but might as well have spoken for the rest of a group that was one of Ole Miss' biggest questions. One year after rarely catching anything in an undeveloped passing game, the Rebels receivers have been consistent, reliable and - on occasion - dangerous the first two games. | Re: Ole Miss football: With Adams' help, Rebel receivers making noise Seth Adams did have a very good game against Mizzou, but I don't see him putting up those good of numbers against SEC defenses. Ole Miss starts their conference play, and their first 3 games are tough as they play @ Vandy, Florida, and UGA. Good luck with that Rebels. |
