Now is the time for Jerrell Powe to do what he should have done two years ago: Enroll at Jones Junior College, do the classwork and play football.

If Powe passes the classwork, gets his junior college diploma and still wants to play football at Ole Miss, then so be it.

It's no disgrace. Hundreds of high school superstars have taken that route. Hundreds more will. Deion Branch went from Jones to Super Bowl MVP. Walter Jones, the best offensive lineman I've ever seen, played for Holmes Community College long before the Seattle Seahawks. Grady Jackson was a star at Hinds Community College before he anchored the lines of several NFL teams. We could go on and on but you get the idea.

This isn't about what is good for the Ole Miss football team. This is about what is good for Jerrell Powe. For two years, his life has pretty much been in limbo. It's time to move on and do what he should have done in the first place.
