OXFORD — Ole Miss' Ashlee Palmer was apprehensive about moving to linebacker.

The junior college transfer had never played the position. He was a safety and butting heads with 300-pound offensive linemen didn't sound very appealing.

But the more he played the position during spring drills, the more he started to like it.

"I'm adjusted, I'm comfortable, I'm settled," he said. "I'm starting to pick up everything as far as playing the position."

Ole Miss still has personnel questions at linebacker with Saturday's opener at Memphis looming, but the strongside spot has been secured by Palmer.

The Compton, Calif., native is working with the first-team defense and has made one of the biggest impressions of fall camp, starting with a scrimmage two weeks ago.
