Cowboys TE pleads guilty

Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew has pleaded guilty to a charge of attacking a police officer back in January.

According to the Associated Press, "He must pay a $200 fine and make a $200 contribution to the victims’ compensation fund, as well as perform 20 hours of community service, which he has already completed at the YMCA, defense attorney William Baker said in court." Pettigrew gained 540 yards yards and scored 4 TDs last season for the Cowboys. Will this affect his status on the team at all, you think?

The key will be how he acts in the future. He seems to have gotten off with a relatively light sentence and fine. For that he should be very happy and make a vow to himself that just because he isan athlete it doesn't give him carte blanc to do as he sees fit.

Very true. The article says he was able to plea-bargain his way out of a felony. So he should view this as a second chance and focus on football. That said, it's no mere coincidence that I just got done reading that Marcus Vick, Michael's little bro and a former Virgina Tech QB, just got busted (again!) for DUI. So that vow you speak of? Obviously some people get it, and some people - like Marcus Vick - do not. Time will tell with Pettigrew.
