You know, lost in the midst of the whole Eddie Sutton mess and the discussion of whether or not his DUI is a fireable offense or not it the fact that this just isn't a good team right now. They're 13-12 overall, sure, but have just a 3-8 conference record and are ranked 11th in the Big 12.

The silver lining, though it that they've got a good looking recruit coming in by the name of Obi Muonelo. Muonelo is from Santa Fa High School in Edmond, OK, and was just named to the 2006 Jordan All-American Team. He is a a 6-4, 210-pound shooting guard who averages 19.2 points per game. Muonelo also helped lead his school to the Class 6-A state championship last season and was named tournament MVP.

I believe that the team can come back. Maybe part of their problem stems from Sutton's problems -- if he was distracted by the pain or his addiction, he might not have been doing his job as well as he might have. As you pointed out in another thread, they sure beat up on Texas, didn't they? Can't wait to see if that energizes them enough to pull them out of their slump.

I guess ultimately OSU had a pretty good year.

Despite all of the controversy surrounding their coach, they wound up with a winning record, reached the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tourney, and earned an NIT bid. Maybe that's not quite how they drew it up, but it wasn't an abysmal season or anything. Think they can do better in 2006-07?
