(3) Texas at (14) Oklahoma State

8:00 PM ET, October 31, 2009
Boone Pickens Stadium , STILLWATER, OK

Texas-Oklahoma St. Preview

Texas star Colt McCoy is the reigning Big 12 offensive player of the week and the nation's second-most accurate passer. Oklahoma State knows all too well about how difficult it is to defend against the Heisman Trophy candidate.

The lone remaining teams with perfect Big 12 records meet with first place in the South Division on the line when McCoy and the third-ranked Longhorns try to extend their 11-game winning streak over the 13th-ranked Cowboys on Saturday night in Stillwater.

Texas (7-0, 4-0) hasn't lost to Oklahoma State (6-1, 3-0) since a 42-16 defeat Oct. 4, 1997, and leads the all-time series 21-2. The 1997 game was the last time the Longhorns entered this matchup as an unranked team while the Cowboys have been ranked just three times during the 11-game slide.

The Cowboys believe this is their best chance to end that run of futility, having won five straight since a 45-35 loss to Houston on Sept. 12.

Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys Preview, October 31 2009 - NCAA College Football - ESPN

Ok, here is my assessment of the game of the year to this point in the Big 12 conference. Oklahoma St Cowboys are rolling big right now. There only loss came to a Houston team that I believe surprised everybody and top 25 team on the road. I saw the Cowboys last year in the Holiday Bowl play the Oregon Ducks tough before losing in a fairly close battle.

Texas Longhorns are rolling but have one big issue with them. Their non-league schedule was woefully weak. They struggled mightily against a Sooner team that was without Bradford who went down early. Hey, I still think the Longhorns are a top 5 team but believe in this game the Cowboys are more battle tested with a tougher schedule. Cowboys are at home here and am sure this will be the biggest game of the year in Oklahoma this weekend.

This should be a great game!

UPSET Prediction: Cowboys 24 Longhorns 21

Ok Longhorn fans, why do you believe the Longhorns will win this weekend or does anybody like my pick?

Longhorns ride defense, efficient McCoy to impressive win vs. Cowboys

STILLWATER, Okla. -- As well as the Texas defense is playing, Colt McCoy needs only to be efficient for the Longhorns to dominate.

Curtis Brown and Earl Thomas returned interceptions for touchdowns, and Cody Johnson had two short TD runs as the No. 3 Longhorns routed Oklahoma State (No. 14 BCS, No. 13 AP) 41-14 on Saturday night to establish themselves as the clear front-runner in the Big 12 South.

McCoy passed for 171 yards and threw his 100th career touchdown pass, and the Longhorns avoided the kind of letdown on Halloween weekend that cost them a chance to play for the Big 12 and national championships a year ago.

Longhorns ride defense, efficient McCoy to impressive win vs. Cowboys - NCAA College Football Recap - ESPN

I have to say I sure called this way wrong! Zac Robinson played horrible in this game for the Cowboys. Impressive win by the Longhorns and is there anybody left on their schedule that could beat them? I don't think so and also know that in the Big 12 championship game there is absolutely nobody that could compete with them from the North as well.

If you are a Longhorns fan, you have to like your chances to play in BCS championship. The only problem I have with this is their weak non-league schedule which could come back to bite them. One more interesting thing to consider, this is the most weakest I have seen the Big 12 in many years which may not help their cause in the computer polls. Anybody else agree?
