We're Coming Back Another Year Older and Another Year Better

NORMAN, Okla. (AP)—Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford wasn’t ready to give up the life of a college quarterback—not without a national championship.

The third-year sophomore quarterback will return to Oklahoma next season, passing on a chance to be a high NFL draft pick.

“I’ve dreamed about playing at Oklahoma since I was little, and my three years here have been probably three of the best years of my life, and I really feel that there’s no need to cut this experience short,” Bradford said Wednesday at a news conference.

“I’m really looking forward to coming back and competing for a fourth straight Big 12 championship and another opportunity at a national championship.”

For the first time, the top-three vote-getters for the Heisman Trophy will return to college football. Tebow announced his intentions Sunday and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy said he’d be back for his senior season long before the Longhorns won the Fiesta Bowl.

Bradford also let it slip that tight end Jermaine Gresham and offensive lineman Trent Williams also decided not to enter the draft early. Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has also said he’ll be back for another season with the Sooners.

Sooners coach Bob Stoops, who took the podium after Bradford, went as far as saying all of the Sooners’ third-year players will be back next season.

while im happy for your team and your football viewing pleasure ... im disappointed in Bradford

i heard a report this morning that he is leaving $20+ million in guaranteed money on the table to me

if there is a 1% chance something can happen to end his playing career then imo he is making a very stupid choice

I really don't get this one, Bradford could've had 20+ million in garuntees and this could be the last year for that because Goodell wants and pay scale for rookies. Then all the other teams we've seen guys who would've been top pick come back they arent top pick next. Matt Leinart would've been top pick ended up 10th, Brady Quinn would've been 1st ended up 22nd

That was raised during Sam's press conference yesterday...

Media: Was there anything to commissioner Goodell’s decision when he said the rookie money would still be there all the way to the 2011 season. Did that give you another option in your decision to stay at Oklahoma?

SB: I don’t know if that gave me another reason to stay at Oklahoma, but obviously that was factored into my decision.

Here's the full text of his press conference:

He said it was the best 3 years of his life. Obviously he is having a great time and wants to continue it. Putting money off for a year isn't the worst thing that could happen.

It seems it would suggest he is not in the game for the money, but for the experience itself. I say good call young man.

I agree with Q completely.
Money isnt everything. It was a mature decision.
Looks like the Sooners are going to be scarier than ever.

Tebow will be back too though. A possible BCS National title re-match?

I certainly hope so. But...when we get there, the coaches are gonna have to change their way of thinking on play calling in the red zone. I still think that's what beat us last time.

When it is two very talented teams as those mentioned, who have quarterbacks who make the throws and recievers who can make almost every catch, it really comes down to coaches.
