Red River Shootout

Don't know if its good news or bad news for Sooners fans, but it looks like the Red River Shootout is staying put in Dallas. According to the Associated Press, "Texas and Oklahoma officials announced Thursday they have agreed to keep their annual football game at the Cotton Bowl for another five years, replacing the current contract that expires in 2008."

Do you like having the game at the Cotton Bowl, or would you rather this have become a home and home series?

I am a HUGE OU fan....and in my opinion, there is no other
place that would be appropriate than the Cotton Bowl....
Let the war continue......it's tradition.

Welcome Maddog...kinda cool of you to say you rather see your team travel into Texas, then give up on a tradition...

well....it's more like 95 years....but....I just rounded it off...
I think that they started playing exclusively in Dallas in 1914

Re: Red River Shootout

Good to have you on board, maddog6. I'm not a Sooner fan per se, but I agree with you about leaving the game where it is. College football's a game that's all about tradition, so anytime there's talk about trying to change something like this, it makes me cringe. Anyway, thanks for joining us here at GoTeamsGo!

Re: Red River Shootout

Dallas is actually about halfway between the two campuses. I lived in Dallas in 1987-88 and went to the game once. It is a great atmosphere in Dallas on that weekend with the Texas State Fair and all the OU-UT fans yelling at each other. The game belongs in Dallas. (BTW, I am a die hard Husker fan)

I really miss our annual shootout with the sooners. That game was always the highlight of the college football season for me and so many other fans. Hopefully we can meet for the Big12 title game this year to keep old traditions alive.
