OU Sooners football practice

The No. 7 University of Oklahoma football team completed its first practice Tuesday at Pinnacle High School in preparation for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. The Sooners practiced in full pads for two and one-half hours under the Arizona sun, working out the kinks of a holiday layoff in sunny, low 70-degree weather. "We (coaches), we're really pleased," OU head coach Bob Stoops said. "In full pads, we got after it in a physical way. The guys looked good.

Stoops Pleased with Practice No. 2

Oklahoma wrapped up practice number two at Pinnacle High School for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl under overcast conditions Wednesday. After shaking the rust off in full pads Tuesday, the Sooners practiced in helmets and shoulder pads, working through a number of team drills. OU head coach Bob Stoops was complimentary toward his players' efforts. "It was really good," Stoops said. "(I was) really pleased with it. Full pads and very physical yesterday and today was just more like a Monday coming off of a game. I really liked the way they worked and we're sharp."

Sooners Back in Full Pads Thursday

The University of Oklahoma football team completed its third day of practice Thursday, running team offense and defense drills for the majority of practice under cool, cloudy conditions at Pinnacle High School. Oklahoma donned full pads for the second time this week as part of its routine game week schedule. Paul Thompson guided the first-string offense and Joey Halzle took the snaps with the second string. Thompson was, again, sharp passing and hit several receivers for long gains during the workout.

Sooners Clicking as Game Draws Near

Oklahoma completed its fourth practice Friday at Pinnacle High School in preparation for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day. The Sooners appeared loose in what was scheduled as a routine Wednesday practice for an OU game week. The Sooners worked on all phases of special teams before taking to separate fields for offense and defensive work against the scout teams. Towards the end of the practice session, tight end Jermaine Gresham drew cheers from teammates on the main field by dunking a touchdown reception over the crossbar in stride.

Final Practice for Seniors, Sooners

No. 7 Oklahoma completed its fifth and final practice of bowl week Saturday afternoon at Scottsdale's Pinnacle High School in preparation for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. The BCS matchup between OU and Boise State kicks off on New Year's Day at 7:30 p.m. Central. FOX has the national telecast. The Sooners could be forgiven for doubting the validity of the "Valley of the Sun" earlier in the week but clear skies and warmer temperatures greeted the team on Saturday.
