Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson will not play in this week's game at Oklahoma State. Sooner head coach Bob Stoops made that announcement on the Big 12 Conference's weekly coaches call, Monday. Peterson suffered a broken collarbone in OU's Big 12 opener vs. Iowa State. There had been some speculation that he might be ready to return this week, but Stoops said, "The scan did not show the healing that needs to occur to get him cleared so he's not going to play this week."

Geez, didn't even know there was a shot he'd come back vs. OSU. But it looks like it's not meant to be. Hey, the team's won six straight without him. Sure, I bet Stoops and Thompson would love to have him back, but I don't think the absolutely need him to win. What do you say?

He was a Heisman candidate his freshman year and everybody expected big things from him. He has been fairly quiet since then.

Well, he was definitely a Heisman candidate this year before the injury. He'll be a great pro if he can stay healthy.

Maybe he would stay health if he doesn't pull anymore of those self-inflicted injuries as a result of an unnecessary end zone dive.
I hate seeing these guys do the "end zone dive", Peterson has proven how dangerous it can be. It should be outlawed by both the NCAA and the NFL.
