| Oregon Deserved the Win Let's set the record straight. I saw that game and have no problem with the controversial onside-kick call going Oregon's way. First of all, Oklahoma shouldn't have even been in a position to win after the pounding Oregon delivered for three quarters on them. The only reason Oklahoma was even in that game is because Oregon very generously handed them four turnovers. If that hadn't happened, Oklahoma would have been buried in a 40 - 10 type score. Seriously. Secondly, let's not forget that one of those turnovers was also not a good call for Oregon. Specifically, the Jonathan Stewart fumble that ultimately resulted in an Oklahoma score. Stewart was on the ground when that happened. But the call went against Oregon. Boohoo. Oklahoma lost that game because they gave up two touchdowns in 22 seconds and had a kick blocked. And most of all stop pretending like you deserved to win that game. You should be thanking God that you didn't lose the game 40 - 10. Last edited by rmjvol : 09-18-2006 at 10:49 PM. | Re: Oregon Deserved the Win yeah right the ducks were given a gift of a life time....that's allright we'll see what happens the next time we go head to head in a fairly officiated game. it is what it is....nothing to do but move forward and work on 1-11 side note....i was happy to see thompson continue to improve as well as the rest of our newer players.....good to see AD grind'n and shine'n as usual |

| Re: Oregon Deserved the Win I totally disagree about the "lift of a lifetime" take. So Oregon got a call that went their way. You still have to live with the fact that you gave up two touchdowns in 22 seconds and 30 seconds later had a kick blocked. Just because Oregon might have gotten an onside kick in no way put them anywhere near the endzone. At what point does Oklahoma take responsibility for giving up two scores and screwing up a kick all in the space of about 45 seconds. And Adrien Peterson got his ass kicked for three quarters before he finally got loose. |

I just hate to see games decided by crappy officiating. I just hope there is some sort of severe disciplinary action coming down on the replay official. That guy should not be allowed to officiate a PopWarner game, much less a NCAA game, ever again. And on Adrian Peterson, I would not call 211 yrds and a 6.2 average getting your ass kicked, no matter what time of the game the yards came.

| Re: Oregon Deserved the Win This is a start. I don't think one game is enough. At the very least, the bozo's in the replay booth should not be allowed to officiate non-conference games again. FOX Sports - COLLEGE FOOTBALL - Oklahoma president calls for suspension of Pac-10 officials Pac-10 suspends officials for one game Associated Press NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The Pac-10 Conference issued a one-game suspension Monday to the officiating crew and the instant replay officials that worked last weekend's Oklahoma-Oregon game after finding mistakes were made in calls near the end of the game. Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hansen said a video review of the game by conference officials revealed that both the instant replay officials and the game officials made errors in the final 1 minute, 12 seconds of the game. Oklahoma lost 34-33 after Oregon scored two late touchdowns. Earlier on Monday, University of Oklahoma president David Boren sent a letter to Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg, asking him to push for the Sooners' game against Oregon to be eliminated from the record books and having the Pac-10 officials involved in the game suspended for the remainder of the season. "To describe the lapses in accurate officiating at the Oklahoma-Oregon football game last Saturday as constituting an outrageous injustice is an understatement," Boren wrote in the letter dated Monday. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has said he believes an Oregon player interfered with Oklahoma's ability to recover the onside kick by illegally touching the ball and a Sooners player before the kick traveled 10 yards. He also believes the Sooners recovered the kick, as tailback Allen Patrick had possession at the end of the play. Stoops has also said he believes Oklahoma defensive end C.J. Ah You tipped a pass by Dennis Dixon that resulted in a pass interference call. If the ball was indeed tipped, the pass interference call would have been negated. Both plays were reviewed using instant replay Saturday, and Hansen had said an announcement would be made Tuesday on whether the calls were correct. Boren requested "an apology from the Pac-10 for the gross errors in officiating" and also called for the Pac-10 to change its rule that requires only Pac-10 officials be used for nonconference home games. The letter also asked the Big 12 to place on the agendas of NCAA meetings and conference commissioners' meetings a discussion of how the review process should be implemented. "It is truly sad and deeply disappointing that members of our football team should be deprived of the outcome of the game that they deserved because of an inexcusable breakdown in officiating," Boren wrote. |
