Jim O'Brien lawsuit

Former Ohio State Buckeyes men's basketball coach Jim O'Brien won a wrongful termination lawsuit against the university this week and was awarded the sum of $2.2 million plus interest by a Columbus judge. According to the Associated Press, the court found that "Under the contract -- drafted by university lawyers in an attempt to keep O'Brien as the Buckeyes coach -- Ohio State needed to follow a strict firing procedure even if O'Brien violated NCAA rules." What do you think about this decision?

Re: Jim O'Brien lawsuit

It is the correct ruling and you can pinpoint the blame on our soon to be ex-university president (She announced her retirement for sometime within this calendar year) Karen Holbrook.
They were looking for some technicality to fire O'Brien on because he wasn't winning and was showing no signs of promise for the future. So they dug up this minor infraction from 3 years ago that the athletic department probably orchestrated, pretended to be outraged and canned him. He said he had no knowledge of it (which is probably a lie as well) and since OSU could not prove he did, he took them too court and instead of settling for the money the university owed him, Holbrook decides to go to court and he takes them to the cleaners for $2.2 million. Yet another embarassment for my alma mater.
