Marking History

Ohio State football with the leaves turning colors is a tradition.
But people may not know that Ohio State played its 1st game in May, about 20 minutes north of Columbus. A team from Ohio State traveled N to Delaware, Ohio to play a team from Ohio Wesleyan University 118 years ago on May 3, 1890.
Football was a very different sport in 1890. There were only 11 to 13 players on a team – each sporting long hair for protection – and no one wore padding, helmets or had numbers on their uniforms. The only way a player could leave the field was if they were injured, and if they left they could not return. The game was played in two 30-minute halves with no timeouts.
Even the ball was different. It was more round than a modern-day football and neither the huddle nor the forward pass was used. Players could punt the ball, but to do so they dropped it to the ground and kicked it on the bounce.
Oh yes, Ohio State won 20-14.

LSC, no tv no commercials. This was horse and buggy days. You remember that.
But I get your point. What would it be like to watch a game without all those blasted commercials?
I wonder if Lefty watched this game????

I bet it was the one with the sleek, modern looking buggy and a built in cooler parked ahead of it. The horse looked a little skinny though. Bet Lefty forgot to feed him, he was so busy with the pregame party and all.
