Wells better than Pittman?

Could OSU RB Chris Wells, this year's starting running back, be better than last year's #1 rusher, Antonio Pittman?

That's what Olin Buchanan of Rivals.com seems to think.

"Even though two-time 1,000-yard rusher Antonio Pittman is gone, the Buckeyes may actually have an upgrade with former five-star RB Chris Wells taking over," says Buchanan. "Wells had a solid freshman year with almost 600 rushing yards as... Pittman's backup. Now in the starting lineup, expect his rushing total to at least double." Is Buchanan right? Is Wells actually an upgrade from Pittman?

I believe Wells is definetly an upgrade.....I heard at one point that Chris Wellls was actually the reason Pittman left......Tressel was impressed with Wells in his freshman year and told Pittman that if he stayed his time would be cut down because of Wells.

Interesting. I've heard some of the hype myself, but I'm a little hesitant to buy into it, you know? Let's see what the kid can do on Saturdays this fall.

Big kid with speed...I like his chances of being a great college back...I think we are looking at a future first rounder...fullback size with halfback speed.

Could all be true, but the last OSU tailback to get this kind of hype didn't turn out so hot in the long run. Sure hope Wells doesn't go the way of Clarett.

Well, you are comparing a senior to a freshman...I think by the time Wells hits his senior year he will be top dog...

As for Clarett...he had talent...but he also had a bad attitude, a bad work ethic which contributed to his down fall...

True, but I would not rate Pittman all that high as a cut back type of back...he's okay at best. Power backs with break away speed are a bit harder to find. I like the kid over Pittman.
