| Greg Oden vs. the Refs Referees have had their eye on Oden throughout the NCAA tournament and haven't been hesitant to whistle even the smallest foul against him. He sat on the bench watching his teammates win the Xavier game in overtime after fouling out, and he was in foul trouble against both Tennessee and Memphis. In Saturday night's semifinal, he got two fouls before three minutes had gone by and had to sit in frustration the rest of the first half. Oden took out his frustrations by attempting a thunderous long-distance dunk over Jeff Green that clanged hard off the rim. "I was out for 17 minutes," Oden said. "I wanted to get in there and just tear the rim out." The show of emotion was unusual for a freshman who prides himself on playing under control. So was Oden's ever-so-slight, implied criticism a day later of the referees in the tournament. "It just seems to me they call more ticky-tack fouls than in the regular season," he said.
