Not one Big 10 Team is in the Sweet 16. And in many of these games, the Big 10 looked feable. Iowa loses to Northwestern State? Georgetown just blows out Ohio State,etc...

A disproportionate amount of the losses bordered as inexcusable to. MSU losing to George Mason was really unexpected (though I guess it looks a little better since UNC lost to them two days later), Iowa unable to close out Northwestern St. was just pathetic. Illinois is a much better team than Washington and simply choked. Wisconsin and OSU were simply inferior teams to the opponents they lost to. And IU was lucky too win in the first round and couldn't take care of Gonzaga with Morrison reduced to almost a non-factor.
Whats ironic is The Big Ten was considered down last year, yet had three teams in the elite eight (MSU, Illinois, Wisconsin) and the former two made the final four. Coming into this years tournament, The Big Ten was the top ranked conference by the RPI and they collectively fail to crack the sweet 16. This either speaks highly about our biases or the nature of this tournament. My guess is our common perceptions sometimes skew reality.

The Luck certainly ran out on the "Luckeyes." I'm sure everyone in Columbus will be happy next year with the addittion of Greg Oden. He make OSU an immediate contender for a National crown.

The RPI is way off. I think what's happening is a lot of these mid-majors are keeping their players for 4 years so they gel as a team whereas some of the powerhouses lose guys to the pros after a year or 2 so it's causing there to be more parity in the tournament.

They should stop taking 6 and 7 teams from big conferences and take more teams from mid-major conferences like Hofstra...Most people thought Hofstra should have gotten in over Geroge Mason in the first place. And look at what George Mason is doing.

With that said, I think this will be the last year we see mid-majors experience this level of success. Four mid-majors in the sweet 16! Are you kidding me? And Bradley, GMU and Witchita State are all worthy competitors, I think there stands a great chance Bradley makes the final four. But with high-schoolers now forced too wait a year after graduation to enter The NBA, the college power conferences will be much more powerful. Becuase right now all three of those aforementioned schools are virtually on equal footing in talent with every team in the country minus UConn.

When am I gonna see a Big Ten final four? When am I gonna see OSU play Illinois? How old do I have to be to see Michigan play Illiniois in the finals? I am really getting impatient here.
