Buckeyes - 2007 Big Ten Basketball Tournament

The field is set for the 2007 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament that will take place Thursday-Sunday, March 8-11, at the United Center in Chicago, Ill. Ohio State (27-3/15-1) claimed the No. 1 seed after capturing the outright Big Ten title for the second consecutive year. Wisconsin (27-4/13-3) earned the No. 2 seed, while Indiana (20-9/10-6) clinched the No. 3 spot. Iowa (17-13/9-7), Purdue (20-10/9-7) and Illinois (21-10/9-7) ended the season tied for fourth place in the conference standings. The Hawkeyes and the Boilermakers were awarded the fourth and fifth seeds, respectively, based on comparing the total records of head-to-head competition among the three tied teams. Each of the top five teams receive a first-round bye and will start tournament play on Friday, March 9.

Buckeyes Face Boilermakers In Big Ten Tourney Semifinals

Greg Oden took a half to get acclimated. Once he settled in, he became the offense force No. 1 Ohio State needed for its 15th straight victory.

"This is my first go-around in these type of tournaments, so I just feed off the guys that have been there before," the Buckeyes' prize freshman said Friday when his second-half play powered a 72-62 win over Michigan in the Big Ten quarterfinals.

With the win over Michigan, Purdue is next up. Will OSU be able to beat the Boilermakers and make it to Sunday's tournament finals?

Huge win for the Buckeyes, and a huge game from Greg Oden in the victory.

Greg Oden spread out his arms and let out a primal scream. It was time to celebrate. His highlight-reel dunk pretty much punctuated another victory for Ohio State and sent the Buckeyes to the finals of the Big Ten tournament.

Oden went crashing through the lane, rising high over Carl Landry and David Teague to slam in a missed shot, giving the Buckeyes a late 11-point lead Saturday in their 63-52 victory over Purdue.

The victory moved the Buckeyes (29-3) a step closer to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. They will take a 16-game winning streak into Sunday's conference tournament finals against No 3. Wisconsin, which beat Illinois 53-41 in the other semifinal.

Oden's dunk also capped a performance that no doubt will have NBA scouts drooling _ 17 points, a tournament-record 19 rebounds and four blocks.
So the stage is set for Ohio State vs. Wisconsing in the Big Ten tourney finals. Who wins it?

Buckeyes Face Badgers for Big Ten Tournament Title

Ohio State and Wisconsin split the regular-season series with each team winning on its home court. The Buckeyes made a late rally and missed a shot at the buzzer that would have extended the game to overtime in Madison in a 72-69 Badger victory Jan 9. Wisconsin then traveled to Columbus as the No. 1 team nationally in the Associated Press Poll while the Buckeyes held down the No. 1 spot in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll Feb. 25. Ohio State prevailed 49-48 to improved to 8-9 overall vs. No. 1 teams all-time and securing the 2007 outright Big Ten Title.

Re: Buckeyes Face Badgers for Big Ten Tournament Title

The Ohio State Buckeyes are Big Ten champions, beating Wisconsin 66-49. Mike Conley Jr. scored 18 points in the win, and Ron Lewis added 17. Oden had a dozen. This should leave little doubt in anyone's mind... OSU should be a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
