March Madness...a little early This is the time of year when basketball finally starts getting interesting to me, especially since I live close to East Lansing and Ann Arbor. MSU fans are entering their anual pre-tournament nervous breakdown and U of M fans are getting their football attitudes out after defeating Illinois the other day. March Madness really is beginning to take hold around here. What's great about the Big Ten is teams like Ohio State, a team that seems poised to make a long run in the conference and NCAA tournament. This is a conference that keeps fans honest. Teams beat up on each other, keeping egos in check on radio call-in shows, except for in Lansing, where fans are predicting the end of the world and calling for the firing of Tom Izzo. Go Buckeyes! You're making my life a lot of fun.

#2 Seed As of now the bracketology prediction is OSU a #2 seed playing their first round games in Dayton. In hindsight, I am not even sure we should be surprised by this. This team went 19-11 last year and returned everyone except for Fuss-Cheetum (did I spell that right?). They were the only team to beat Illinois in the regular season and they acquired Ron Lewis, the transfer from Bowling Green who played high school basketball in Columbus at a school called Brookhaven. Traditionally, don't teams that have a promising season like the 04-05 season OSU had, subsequently have a breakout season the following year?

Thad Matta has brought this team along way. They could make a lot teams nervous in the tourney. THe MSU game proves that I knew they would win. They have matured so much throughout the year they deserve the Big 10 Title.
