FORT WORTH, TEXAS - The Davey O'Brien Foundation today announced three finalists for the 2006 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback. They are, in alphabetical order:
Colt Brennan, Hawai'i, Jr., WAC
Brady Quinn, Notre Dame, Sr., Ind.
Troy Smith, Ohio State, Sr., Big Ten

I understand Smith and Quinn, but is Colt Brennan a fit with these two? Was there a better 3rd candiate?

i would say because of his numbers even though they were against weak opponents he had to be put in there.

Yeah, but WAC numbers aside, does Hawaii run some sort of run and gun offense that skews the numbers?

he cost me my fantasy college football title this past weekend. i think he threw for over 500 yards on more than one occasion this year. thats all they did was throw, throw and throw the ball.

These are Colt's numbers, he ranked #1 in the NCAA
QB Ranking-180.83 Pass yd per game-377.73 Compl.% 72.3 TDs-52 Int-8

Quinn is ranked #6 and Smith is ranked #7.

That's my point...yes he has numbers...but its not a passing title award...its a To pQB award. A top QB has to do it against top competition.

I understand what your saying, but I'm sure his numbers and his #1 ranking were taken into consideration.
