Greg Ellis Agrees To Contract

The Raiders and free agent defensive end Greg Ellis agreed to terms on a contract Monday, though a contract has yet to be signed.
A person close to the negotiations said that the Raiders targeted Ellis soon after he was released by the Dallas Cowboys earlier this month. Ellis, 33, played for the Cowboys in all of his 11 seasons in the NFL. He started 156 games for the Cowboys, including all 16 last season.

Waste of money or good decision?

Re: Greg Ellis Agrees To Contract

So I assume you feel Ellis has more years left in him?

Disagree Honcho. I like Ellis but his best days are definitely behind him. He gets hurt a lot, getting older.
Good deal for the Raiders though. They keep picking up guys who can still play, they just might make a statement this season.

Oh yeah, I think so. 36 tackles last year, 25 of which were solo, 8 sacks and 1 interception.
His presence also helped DeMarcus Ware.

Being it is the Raiders, I'm sure he will contribute something. This will probably be his last team, why end his career on the Raiders?

Exactly.
I suppose he ends it there because no one else wanted him and he still wants to play.
He can still retire as a Cowboy.

Maybe think of the Raiders as a retirement plan. A paid cool down.
