Couple of surprises here as the Oakland Raiders prepare to set up training camp. One is that the QB job does not necessarily belong to Aaron Brooks just yet; Andrew Walter will be given a chance to win it over the summer. Second is that the Raiders plan to switch to a base 4-3 defense, with rookie Thomas Howard of UTEP stepping into a starting role right off the bat. Good move?

Coach Shell made quite a few interesting moves all over the board.

He moved Morrison in at MLB that was once held by Danny Clark. He is starting a rookie (McQuistan, I think) at RG.

So far, it appears that the practices are going very well. The rookie is still making adjustments at the guard position, but Shell is feeling confident that he will get it down.

The accountability is also up as well. Shell is making all players run the length of the field for every false start, off sides or dropped pass that occurs. Even Moss was not excused from this as he had to run the length of the field for juggling a pass from Brooks and allowing Fabian Washington snatch it.

Hmmm... It's no wonder why JP is so upset.
