Raiders fire Kiffin

The Oakland Raiders have fired Lane Kiffin. Its for real this time. (I think) Offensive line coach Tom Cable has been named interim coach. (how long that will last, no one knows)

Re: Raiders fire Kiffin

this further confirms Al Davis has lost his mind ..... Kiffin may not be the long-term answer .... but you dont fire him so early in a season .... especially without a quality replacement lined up

Apparently Kiffin didnt want Jamarcus Russell on the team in the first place. Not sure who he thought was better.

I knew it was going to happen eventually... Al Davis pulls the trigger before thinking about anything else... I tell you. He signed Kiffin the a 2 yr. contract worth about 4 million... That man just pulls out the money than thinking about anyone or anything else... That means he's a very desperate old man trying to make something out of nothing. Davis has excellent talent. Davis just needs the to stop and find the right coach. The Raiders aren't going to be going anywhere for a while. Just stop and look.

I agree the Raiders have some talent. But with the reputation Davis has, no good coach is going to take the job.
Davis had a lot to say in his news conference about Kiffin. He said even more to reporters after it was over. Things about how Kiffin undermined the team and lied, etc. etc. People were impressed by what he said and how he said it. But the thing is, the Raiders' problems started long before Kiffin got there. Former QB Rich Gannon has really spoke out quite freely about the things that went on there.
Bottom line: I dont think a different coach is going to help with Davis around.

Re: Raiders fire Kiffin

Do you have what it takes to be the next Raiders head coach? It appears old Al has completely lost it and is looking on the internet for the new applicant. See if you have the qualifications to be the next on the list. Check out this site.

Raiders will waste the talents or future stars Russell and McFadden with this madness.

Re: Raiders fire Kiffin

I wouldn't be surprised, with Davis' state of mind, if he fired the entire coaching staff and started over.
