Who knew an Oakland Raiders football helmet could save a life? According to the article, this 61-year woman "was bleeding internally from her esophagus, and needed immediate treatment to stop it... Medical staff were set to perform esophagogastric tamponade therapy — a rare procedure in which a football helmet is used as an anchor to temporarily control internal bleeding." So they called the Raiders, who quickly came through with a donated helmet. No word on her condition.
