He was a pretty good runner for the Jets but that was as a sub for Curtis Martin and many of his carries were in the 4th quarter when the game was already decided. Some guys can do it with 7 or 8 rushes a game, but can't do it for 25 carries. To be fair though, the Raiders had a lousy offensive line, didn't they?

Re: Raiders RB LaMont Jordan He doesn't have the assets of a starting running-back. He is a skilled football player, but I don't think he can hold the responsibility of leading his team in rushing. I would personally limit him to about 10 carries per game and have somebody else do the running. He is good, just not that good! I am a Jets fan, of course.

Re: Raiders RB LaMont Jordan Wow, talk about overrated. Hmm... makes you wonder. Who all would you rate over him. LT, Edge, Shawn Alexander, Tiki Barber, Clinton Portis, Deuce McAllister for sure. Larry Johnson. Rudi Johnson, most likely. In fact, Jordan was 15th in rushing yardage last year, and in addition to the above RBs, other guys who had more yards than him here Warrick Dunn, Thomas Jones, Willis McGahee, Reuben Droughns, Willie Parker, Cadillac Williams and Steven Jackson. Other notables in the top 30 rushing include Mike Anderson, Julius Jones, Domanick Davis, Tatum Bell, Ronnie Brown, Jamal Lewis, DeShaun Foster, Chris Brown, Fred Taylor, Ricky Williams, Curtis Martin... the full list is over at http://www.nfl.com/stats/leaders/NFL/RYDS/2005/regular. I have to tell you, there's a lot of those guys I'd rather have starting at RB on my team than Lamont Jordan.

Re: Raiders RB LaMont Jordan Well these are the RBs listed ahead of him in this Fantasy Football mag or section of it. 1. Larry Johnson 2. Shawn Alexander 3. LaDainian Tomlinson 4. Clinton Portis 5. Tiki Barber 6. Cadilliac Williams After that they decided since hes on the high powered Oakland Raider offense and since hes great at catching passes and a great powerback Lamont Jordan was the 7th best RB in football you could take. I know its crazy.

Re: Raiders RB LaMont Jordan The answer to Jordan being productive and successful is the OL. *I'm beating a dead horse but it is true* It seems to me he's holding himself accountable for the failures of the team last year. Raider RB's (including Marcus Allen & Bo Jackson) were good because of the blocking of the OL. Sheesh! Anyone is good if the OL blocks well. The only person who can run for TD's without an OL is Barry Sanders and he went into an early retirement. Nuff. Thundrwagn

Re: Raiders RB LaMont Jordan Hey, welcome to GoTeamsGo, thundrwagn! Good to have you here! As you say, the key to any good running game (or offense in general) is the quality of the team's o-line. That said, what's your opinion of the Raiders offensive line? How good or bad is the Silver and Black in the trenches?

Re: Raiders RB LaMont Jordan I believe that the OL will be improved this year. Do they have the right personnel? My only question mark on the OL is Barry Sims. He seems to be the main culpret when it comes to penalties. But we'll see soon enough how well the OL does. I think they have the right coaches to help motivate and return them to the fundamentals. OL needs to understand that the key to victory offensively is won or lost in the trenches. Nuff. Thundrwagn

Re: Raiders RB LaMont Jordan Hey, t-wagn, did you see this thread: 10 Raiders who must make an impact Robert Gallery is listed as one of the 10 Raiders who need to step it up in 2006. I know the dude was pretty highly touted coming out of college; how's he been for you guys? Apparently not as good as hoped if this is to be believed, but maybe Shell can get him on the right track, eh?
