After lifetime of lies, man admits he never played for Raiders

After years of personal appearances and signing autographs as a member of the 1980 AFC Champion Oakland Raiders a Florida man, Ed McCabe has admitted that he was never a NFL player.
It seems his lies were mostly in an effort to raise money for charitable organizations that aided injured former NFL players.
Some of his charity aided himself, as it seems that he got a brokerage job in a mortgage company based on his alleged NFL experience.
Even his wife believed he was a former player until last week.

After a Life of Lies, Man Admits He Was Never an Oakland Raider - FanHouse - AOL Sports Blog

In something I had read earlier, for some reason the Raiders denied he was a part of their organization. I dont know how it came about. But kind of a funny story.

Weird. You'd have thought it wouldn't be all that hard to prove. Either he was on the roster or he wasn't.

So how'd it go on for so long, that's what I'd like to know.

I dont know why they finally did deny it. What brought it to their attention. No, it wouldnt be hard to prove once they decided to look into it. Just check the roster.
