Hide the Snacks! Jamarcus Russell hits 300 lbs

Rumors keep swirling that Jamarcus Russell is putting on weight, over 300 lbs in fact. The team roster has him listed at 255.
If this is true, he would be the biggest quarterback out there. The honor now belongs to Jared Lorenzen, back up to Eli Manning.
Russell is a big man, he stands at 6-6, but 300 lbs. is a lot for a quarterback. His mobility would be limited for one thing.
Daunte Culpepper is listed at 265.

HIDE THE SNACKS!: Raiders’ Jamarcus Russell Rumored To Be 300 Pounds

I think he had problems with his weight once before.
I am thinking he would be hard to bring down at 300 lbs. Has any quarterback ever played at that weight before?
Think he should try or should he slim down a bit?

Wow, dang. This guy better get and keep his weight down.

This, plus the trouble he had learing the playbook last year? The kid's got bust written all over him!

Well, yeah, but in a different way. He's refining the art of the bust to make it more culinary in nature.

Interesting that they pay him all that money and there's zip to show for it.

Russell as the new poster boy for busts, a poster that will weigh ten pounds! If he is that undisciplined, forget about him already.

There is so much turmoil on that team with Davis and Kiffin but I think I want to give Russell another year. Let's see what he has learned this year. I'm not ready to call him a bust yet.

Has there been any update on this? I mean, has the team managed to get his weight down at all?

Apr. 17, 2008 - 6:47 p.m. ET Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Knapp reiterated Thursday that JaMarcus Russell "is nothing near the reported 300-pound range." Knapp emphasized that Russell has "shown a dedication to the team" this spring, meeting three days a week with QBs coach John DeFilippo. Russell has also been polishing his footwork. He'll be the Raiders' starter in 2008.

I found this. Maybe earlier reports were exaggerated. Regardless, I believe he will be in football shape when its time to play.

Hold on guys! Let Fat Albert at least throw a pass before you label him a bust! Just hide the Big Macs!
