Raiders Sign Javon to 6-Year Deal

The Oakland Raiders reached agreement with free-agent wide receiver Javon Walker on a stunning six-year, $55 million deal that includes $27 million in the first three years, including $16 million guaranteed, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

The deal is staggering when you consider the contract the record-setting Randy Moss received from the New England Patriots on Monday: $27 million over three years.

Since last Thursday, the Raiders have doled out more than $144 million in contracts to defensive tackle Tommy Kelly ($50.1 million), safety Gibril Wilson ($39 million), and Walker ($55 million).

That's a huge deal from a guy who really doesn't deserve that kind of money.

Crazy that he and Moss will be earning the same amount over the next three years. Oakland doesn't have a clue.

Well from a money standpoint you're gonna have to overpay guys to come play in Oakland because the team is a mess and your numbers are gonna sink. A lot like the Jets are overpaying guys like little known linebacker Calvin Pace. I can understand this signing. The only thing that would bother me about Javon Walker is a possible major surgery on his knee.

Moss had an offer that would've gave him 3 more million dollars per year and another year in Philly. He wants to win.

Maybe Al Davis realizes he can't take it with him...so might as well win.

All this tells me is that Walker is obviously done if the Raiders signed him. The Raiders are the Knicks of the NFL.

How is Javon Walker going to help him there? The guy was good in Green Bay but more or less a bum in Denver.
