Looks like Daunte Culpepper is out and Josh McCown is back is as the Raiders starting quarterback. This comes according to Yahoo! Sports and Insidebayarea.com, which is reporting that coach Lane Kiffin is making the move in an attempt to wake up an offense that has scored just two touchdowns in three game. Good move?

He's a rookie who missed all of training camp so i'd say you won't see him this year no matter what. Russell would be going in blind I think.

If they were going to start him this year, they had every opportunity and reason to. He will not start until next season.

How does it hurt to let him play the last 4 games to give him some game experience? True he missed training camp but I think 3 months of regular season practices is enough.

Some teams are just sticklers for the "letting them learn from the bench" ideas. I bet at some point this season they let him get in a few snaps in a game. They may have already. I don't get to see them play.

Naw, McCown is no better...I would take my chances with Daunte.

With a record of 2-5 they have nothing to lose. Keep in mind that he is only benched, not sent to Siberia. Try your other guns. If successful Kiffin is a genius. If McCown provides nothing then BINGO, back to the bench he goes and Daunte goes back in.

That's what I say! Leave Russell on the bench in '07 to learn but McNown is no better than Culpepper as GDK said!
