OaklandRaiders draft Michael Huff

Oakland needs DB help, they get a guy from Texas who can play CB or S. I like the pick of Michael Huff at #7. He'll probably play safety for the Raiders, and is a good hard hitter. Definitely will help that defense. What do you guys say?

That's Al Davis...He believes a teams fundation is the shut down corner...Matt is still in free fall...Raiders would have been a good fit...west coast kid would have had an instant fan base...what a crazy draft...

They must be sold on Andrew Walker and/or Aaron Brooks. So, Gotham, you're figuring CB for Huff? What about their other young CBs?

Davis can never have enough CB's...unless you are named Roy Williams you don't get a top 10 pick at Safety...just wouldn't make sense...and not with Matt and Jay on the board...

Fair enough. I ultimately think they'll find he's a better fit at S, though.

Cool Re: OaklandRaiders draft Michael Huff

This was a terrible pick in my opinion. I thought for sure, Davis was going to take Leinhart. They have Aaron Brooks for crying out loud! How many DB's are the Raiders going to draft in the 1st round ? I personally would never take a DB back that high. A lot of problems in the secondary fix themselves with a good pass rush.

Well, you are not Al Davis...he believes that a good secondary contracts the field of play...John madden use to go for a strong line...different strokes for different folks...but its a sin to pass up on Matt...he would have put California fannies in the seats...

Huff in Round 1 and Darnell Bing in Round 4 will make that an excellent secondary. Excellent picks. As for Leinart, Davis didn't like him. Too weak of an arm for the Raiders throw-it-deep-and-pray mentality. What surprises me is that they didn't get a QB at least SOMEWHERE in the draft. Might they be looking at an undrafted free-agent, perhaps Vick?

Too late. Marcus is headed to the Dolphins rookie camp (See Miami Dolphins thread).

Did Oakland sign any rookie quarterbacks?

Not that I know of. But I really don't know. I don't know how they passed on Leinart or Cutler to take a corner back.
