| McCown Named Starter? ![]() Raiders coach Lane Kiffin has told his team who's starting at quarterback in Sunday's season opener. Josh McCown and Daunte Culpepper know which one of them is the starter and which one is the backup. But who will it be? Although the team won't say -- and might not say until game time -- Adam Schefter of NFL Network says it's McCown. That seems like the right choice, if for no other reason than McCown has spent the last four months learning Kiffin's offense, while Culpepper has only been a Raider for one month. But the real question is when JaMarcus Russell is going to report. Although his uncle thinks they're close, the fact that the season is about to begin and Russell still hasn't reported is an indication that the Raiders' quarterback situation is going to be a mess all year. | Re: McCown Named Starter? Hmm, that's a shocker. I remember reports that McCown had been doing very well early in camp, but all we've been hearing about lately is how much better Culpepper looks than the last couple of years. This move seems to make sense is McCown really is still that far ahead of Daunte, but I can't imagine it will be a popular decision among Raider fans.
