Josh McCown will start at quarterback in the Raiders' exhibition opener Saturday night against the Arizona Cardinals, Coach Lane Kiffin announced Wednesday. Kiffin, who this week listed McCown, Andrew Walter and Daunte Culpepper in a dead heat for the starting job on the depth chart, didn't give any specific rationale for going with McCown. He said all three will get about the same number of snaps, with Walter relieving McCown and then Culpepper finishing up. "Josh has done a really good job and shown a lot of leadership in the way he handled himself during the scrimmage on the sidelines and around the team," Kiffin said. I think McCown is the best quarterback they have right now and they could have saved money and offered it to JaMarcus rather than splurging on Culpepper who is finished. But you know the Raiders can never pass up on a washed up veteran.

They made the right choice starting McCown only because Culpepper has had lest camp time than McCown. Culpepper will start in week one though

How many snaps is their 1st pick wonder boy going to see? I am sure there is pressure to get him in there and take some snaps...give the fans a taste.

Culpepper has not played the whole off season in the offense McCown has Culpeper will start in week one

Probably not. I can't remember for sure but I think he was out until Week 4 or so.

He strikes me as a guy is a good at a small school then flops in the NFL

Well, he was taken in the 3rd...Raiders must have liked something about him...Usually you take your risks on day two of the draft.
