Raiders coach Lane Kiffin said this week that Warren Sapp had shed 49 pounds this offseason, according to Inside Bay Area."I just wanted to be in good physical condition to come into this thing and go," Sapp said. "I looked at the schedule, and we got to go to Miami at the end of September. I know what Florida weather is like. I'm going to spread the word because, if we don't, we're going to come out of there in real bad shape."

I seem to recall him doing this near the end of his career in Tampa Bay, and I think what followed was one of the worst seasons of his career. He just didn't have the size to effectively fill the holes at a lower weight. We'll see if this winds up being the case in 2007 too, but I have a gut feeling that this will indeed be the case.
