Oakland Raiders agree to contract with offensive lineman Cooper ...

The Oakland Raiders agreed to a contract Friday with former Denver Broncos offensive lineman Cooper Carlisle.

Carlisle started every game the past two seasons for the Broncos and has played 95 games since joining Denver as a fourth-round pick out of Florida in 2000.

"Cooper has been a consistent starter in our division and his experience will serve us well up front with our offensive line," Raiders coach Lane Kiffin said. "He fits our system perfectly and we are extremely excited to have him here."

Carlisle is the third veteran offensive lineman the Raiders have signed this off-season, joining Jeremy Newberry and Cornell Green. Oakland allowed a league-worst 72 sacks last season.

Well, say what you will about the Raiders being a lousy team... but at least they're addressing their offensive line situation, unlike the Texans or Cardinals.
