Cool Aaron Brooks signs with Raiders

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- The Raiders found their replacement for Kerry Collins ,
agreeing to terms Wednesday with former New Orleans quarterback Aaron Brooks
on a two-year contract worth more than $8 million.

Hey I like Aaron Brooks, I just don't think he is the answer the Raiders are
looking for...

If the Raiders don't improve their defense, they cdould bring in the second coming of Johnny Unitas to play QB and it wouldn't matter.

This once proud franchise is now a major disaster.

Al Davis has always beleived that shut down corners where the key to a franchise...sooo...yeah, the second coming of Jonny U won't help...

In my opinion, besides a select few, the secondaries in the NFL are made by a team's pass rush. If you give NFL QB's & WR's too much time - they will complete passes - no matter who's covering.

Re: Aaron Brooks signs with Raiders

I think, based on physical gifts alone, that Aaron Brooks is one of the top 10 QBs in the NFL. His problem is he makes too many stupid mistakes and has too many stretches where he looks like he doesn't care. Hopefully the change of scenery will do him good and he can get his game back. I think this is a good risk for the Raiders. They aren't really going anywhere anyway but if Brooks puts together a strong season they can push for the playoffs. If not they won't be any worse off than where they were.

Hey Doc, what kind of numbers can we expect from Brooks, in the Raider offense...should I chance him in a fantasy draft?

Re: Aaron Brooks signs with Raiders

Once again, Al Davis is trying to prove that his team can win with everyone else's castoffs. Shame Brooks is actually a downgrade at QB for the Raiders. And the word is that even though they're playing him $5 million per year and just drafted a guy last year, they're still eyeing Vince Young in the draft. As Pundit pointed out, they've got too many holes to try fill to sink this much money into the quarterback position.

I wouldn't trust him in a fantasy league. He can go off and have a great game then follow it up with 3 stinkers in a row. If it is a deep draft and you can just stash him on the bench it might not be bad to pick him up late but if you count on him to be a consisent starter you will probably be on suicide watch after week 3. The emotional swings you will experience will be out of this world.

Re: Aaron Brooks signs with Raiders

And they're still thinking about re-signing Collins in a back-up role? Just how many QBs does one team need, anyway? If they do get Collins again, and they've got Brooks, and they draft Young or another one of the 1st Round QBs, what happens to Tuiasasopo and Walters?

Does Al Davis know that he has to field a defense also ?

I think it's time for Al to retire - you know - play gin with some of the fellas, catch a couple of early birds at Red Lobster, etc...
