| Lane Kiffin NEW Raiders Head Coach Announced earlier tonight by ESPN, Kiffin will leave his post as offensive coordinator for the USC Trojans to take over the much beseiged Raiders. He immediately becomes the youngest NFL head coach of all-time at just 31 years of age. And yes, he is the son of Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. Here's the AP Story. |

| Re: Lane Kiffin NEW Raiders Head Coach More power to him. He's going to need it. I think, as long as Al Davis is owner of the Raiders, Kiffin will not have much control in things. I almost wish Art Shell would buy the Raiders from Davis. |

| It's funny. Eric Mangini has one good year and now everybody is hiring 30 years olds. The Jets schedule will be brutal next year and when the Jets go 7-9, that'll be the end of this latest fad of hiring babies as coaches. |

| Re: Lane Kiffin NEW Raiders Head Coach i dont like this hire at all he is so young and has so little experience as a coach it will be tough for him to control Porter and Moss and some of the other trouble in Oakland.......on top of that he doesnt really have a QB and i think he was only hired because Davis feels he can still have total control......which is not what any team needs

| Re: Lane Kiffin NEW Raiders Head Coach I am strong believer that age has no correlation to leadership ability. You are either born a leader or born a follower. Perhaps a follower can become an effective leader, but never a charismatic one. If Kiffin has it, then he has it. If he doesn't, then he doesn't. Waiting ten years does nothing to prepare him for leading a football team. Experience is only what you make of it and age is only a number. Never should qualifications take a backseat to age. I liked what I saw from him and Steve Sarkisian at USC. He seemed to have good football knowledge and knows the elements that are conducive to creating an explosive offense. However, he will probably be susceptible to Al Davis' whims, and at his mercy when it comes to personnel decisions. |

| Re: Lane Kiffin NEW Raiders Head Coach Who knows? It's so sad about Davis. At one point, he was one of the best owners in thh game. Now, he's going senile. Sometimes, you have to know when to step aside, and he obviously doesn't. |

| Re: Lane Kiffin NEW Raiders Head Coach You know, I was wondering that myself. My gut tells me no because, for one thing, he's still under contract with the Bucs (I think), and two, could you imagine being a dad and going and taking orders from your son? Heck, they advise you not to go work with family in the first place, but this just seems like it would be an all-around bad situation.
