Raider QB Woes

Oakland seems to be willing to part ways with QB Kerry Collins, who started 15 games, and really, who can blame them. With weapons like Randy Moss and Jerry Porter, he still only managed a QB rating in the mid-70s and a 20-12 TD to INT ratio. Tuiasosopo's clearly not the answer, either.

Do they let Walter start, or do they try and get someone via trade or free agency? I keep hearing Culpepper's name coming up - is this just wishful thinking amongst the Raider Nation, or could it happen?

Culpepper, Moss Reunion?

The Oakland Raiders are in a tough situation heading into the 2006 offseason. They went out last year and drasticall upgraded the talent at the skill positions bringing in Lamont Jordan and perhaps the leagues best receiver in Randy Moss. After watching Kerry Collins lead the Giants to the Super Bowl in 2000 I was convinced that he was the right passer for this offense, however it was a disaster. Since there aren't too many Quarterbacks available this year, the Raiders could try to draft Vanderbilt's Jay Cutler, or they could attempt to recapture the magic that Minnesota had with Culpepper and Moss. Since Culpepper is coming off a serious knee injury, he might be available in a trade. With so few options, and Collins appearing to be heading out, I feel this is the best move for Al Davis.

Looks like there could be a chance.

"The Vikings are gauging quarterback Daunte Culpepper's trade value around the NFL, a person with knowledge of the situation said Wednesday... Baltimore, Miami, Oakland and the New York Jets are among those teams who are expected to pursue quarterbacks this offseason."

Re: Raider QB Woes

I think Cullpepper would be a great addition to the team, if they are planning on having a season like last year. Al Davis needs to quit messing with personelle and hang it up. They need to get a young QB and protect him. They've got good players in the skill positions.

Cool Raider QB Rumor...

Actually I heard the Raiders are packaging thier 1st pick this year (6th overall), and next years #1 and #3 to the Titans for thier 1st pick this year (3rd overall) and taking a chance on Vince Young... ...Well, Okay, I didn't really hear that, I am actually starting the rumor myself...but hey, feel free to spread it...pass it on to your next of kin, your neighbor...Mel Kiper if you happen to see him...somebody has to start the rumor mill...right?...right?...

Well, with Randy Moss in Oakland, Daunte Culpepper would already have a go-to man. Of course, if I played quarterback and had Randy Moss on my team, I'd have a go-to man, too.

However, Minnesota would be stupid to let Culpepper go, in my opinion.

Re: Raider QB Woes

Collins has officially been cut, and now the rumor is that the Raiders may be trying to work a swap with the Jets.

Oakland apparently wants to sneak up to No. 4 to snag Vince Young, and NY wants to drop down to No. 7 and would pick Jay Cutler. Think it'll happen?
