With yesterday's 5-4 win over Baltimore, Oakland has now won 10 straight home games. Oakland now leads the Angels by 8.5 games in the AL West. Frank Thomas, who hit his 477th career home in the game, told reporters after the game "This team has shown a lot of character this year... 'We seem to find a way to get it done even when someone goes down. The pitching has been great all year and the offense always seems to get the big hit somehow."

That's a pretty good recipe for success. How far can this team go in the playoffs?

I am unsure about the duration of the Athletics' survival in the post-season. I'm not going to make any bold predictions now, but I don't think that the A's will advance too far. Frank Thomas has contributed the most at the plate which is a surprise and Barry Zito is already packing up his bags for the off-season. We all know that Zito probably won't be around in Oakland next season, possibly stopping in Flushing, New York.

The team chemistry has been a rollercoaster all season long.
