Huston Street to DL

Well, Ken Macha hoped he wouldn't have to go on the DL, but he has. How will this affect Oakland's quest for the post-season?

fresh off the AP....

Quote:
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -The Oakland Athletics placed closer Huston Street on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained right groin.

The right-hander, who is sixth in the AL with 29 saves, was injured while taking the loss in the second game of a doubleheader against Kansas City on Friday night. The move is retroactive to Aug. 19.

Left-hander Ron Flores was called up from Triple-A Sacramento to take Street's roster spot.

Street allowed the tying and go-ahead runs in the Royals' four-run eighth inning Friday. He is 4-3 with a 3.22 ERA in 57 appearances with the AL West-leading A's.

He was also unavailable for 12 games from April 19-May 1 with a strained muscle in his chest.

This is Flores' fourth stint with the A's this season. He is 1-1 with a 3.09 ERA in 17 relief appearances with Oakland.

Re: Huston Street to DL

This will definitely make an impact in the team's overall bullpen value. Street was a key aspect to the relievers and it is sad that he must be on the DL at this important time. Good luck to the Athletics, since this is their chance to get into the Playoffs. They just have to play their cards right, if they don't run out of cards.

Cool Re: Huston Street to DL

I think the A's should go back to the early 70's uniforms. Switch off the gold and Green tops. With A's in the corner. Time to get a little charma going.

Re: Huston Street to DL

A change in the jerseys can lead to better performances on the field, without steroids!

The Mets have been wearing their retrospective 1986's jerseys this season as the 20th anniversary and looked how well they have played.
