Nick Swisher traded to Chicago

The fire sale continues in Oakland. Nick Swisher has been traded to the White Sox for 3 minor league prospects. There is no word yet on who the minor league players are yet.

Beane seems to be getting rid of anybody that will bring in talent. Who is the next to go?

Oakland has a interesting strategy, just dont know what the hell it is besides screwing their team over, anyway good pickup for the sox, swisher did have an off year in 07 but still managed 22 hr and 78 rbi's and the previous year had 35 hr with 95 rbi's.

Re: Nick Swisher traded to Chicago

Oakland acquired prospects left-handed pitcher Gio Gonzalez, right-handed pitcher Fautino De Los Santos and outfielder Ryan Sweeney for Swisher.

The prospects were three of Chicago's top 10 in their system. Gonzalez and De Los Santos specifically are highly thought of.

Are they major league ready, or are they still just prospects?

Cool Re: Nick Swisher traded to Chicago

When Billy Beane re-builds, he doesn't fool around. I give him credit. If you're goanna do something - do it all the way.

Both of the pitchers are going to be in the majors within a couple years at the latest.

That's Moneyball for you. He's got the next Mulder/Zito/Haren/etc. all lined up, courtesy of this deal.
