A's dealing Street and Blanton?

Does that mean Joe Blanton is next up on the A's trade block? It's safe to say he is, and maybe Huston Street after that. -- San Jose Mercury News

Its official, the Oakland A's love their fans, why the hell would they do this is beyond me, street is top 3 closer and blanton is a great starter..

It all depends what they get for them.

If you sacrifice this year for prospects that can ensure you'll be a playoff contender for the next 7-10 years after, do it!

I am hearing the Reds are very interested in him. If they can't get Bedard, they are going to offer the same package to Oakland.

Cool Re: A's dealing Street and Blanton?

Beane obviously feels that the A's can't compete in the near future so I wouldn't be surprised to see any veterans be dealt for younger up and coming players.

Beane is also a pretty good evaluator of talent. He traded off Mulder, Hudson and Zito, and none of them have really been that good since. He must have known they were declining. Could be the same for these guys.

Re: A's dealing Street and Blanton?

I don't know if they're willing to deal Street but Blanton has been dangled on the market as long as I can remember.

He's definitely an enticing option with such a weak free-agent market in terms of pitching.

No, the A's are the minor leagues upon which winning teams are built...if these team had been able to keep its talent, we would be calling them a dynasty...along with probably Seattle.

The Expos were like that as well before they moved. They couldn't keep their guys.
