A's Trade Haren To The D'Backs

The D-backs get Dan Haren and Connor Robertson from the A's in exchange for pitchers Brett Anderson, Greg Smith and Dana Eveland along with outfielders Carlos Gonzalez and Aaron Cunningham and first baseman Chris Carter.

Re: A's Trade Haren To The D'Backs

The players Oakland got back were some of the top players in Arizona's system. That same system that was considered one of the best in all of baseball. According to Baseball America's rankings of Arizona's system, Oakland acquired the #1, #3, #7, and #8 ranked prospects in their system.

Oakland strikes again. Haren will be good for the D-Backs, but 3-5 years from now, the guys they acquired will be the core of the Athletics ballclub. They managed to reload at relatively low cost. It's a good deal, and a perfect example of why I wish we could get a Moneyball GM in Pittsburgh.

Arizona has a great 1-2 from their rotation with Haren and Webb. If Johnson can come back healthy...big IF.. they will be hard to beat in the West

True, but they've gotten into the playoffs consistantly. They've always had chances.

Much better than the struggles the Pirates have had over the past 10 to 15 years or so, don't you think?

True, I guess you'd take Oakland's post-season appearances (but losses, some heartbreaking) over Pittsburgh's zero appearances any day.

In a heartbeat. Heck just a winning season, playoffs for not, would be welcome.
