Cool A's drop 5th straight

Quote:
The Oakland Athletics got a solid effort from ace Dan Haren and took a two-run lead into the bottom of the ninth inning. They still couldn't find a way to win.

That's how things have been going for the slumping A's.

Alan Embree gave up a two-run double to Travis Hafner and a three-run homer to pinch-hitter Kelly Shoppach -- all with two outs -- as the Cleveland Indians rallied past Oakland 8-5 on Tuesday night to hand the Athletics their season-worst fifth straight loss.
Slumping A's blow ninth-inning lead, drop fifth straight - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

The A's now have dropped 6 games out of the Wild Card Race behind Cleveland and Detroit, Seattle, and Minnesota and are just barely ahead of the Jays and Yanks.

Are they done?

Re: A's drop 5th straight

They will put together a nice run soon. LAA can't keep their pace up all year. They will go on a losig streak to let them back into it.

Re: A's drop 5th straight

The A's bullpen is what has sunk them over the last two games... horrifying performances by Alan Embree against the Indians. But they'll snap out of it soon enough.

Cool Re: A's drop 5th straight

After getting back on track 3 nights ago beating the Indians, they lost the finale in that series 4-3 on a 3 -run homer by Cleveland's Jason Michaels.

They now come into Yankee Stadium. Two teams who are 3-7 in their last 10 games. Something's gotta give.

Yankee pitching may just be what the doctor ordered.

Cool Re: A's drop 5th straight

It's the A's pitching that got the attention yesterday as they one-hit the Yankees...Today it doesn't get any easier as Dan Haren, the AL's best pitcher goes for the A's...
