The Oakland Athletics have sent OF Milton Bradley to the minors.

According to the Associated Press, "The move was made to avoid a logjam in the outfield with the emergence of rookie Travis Buck and the return of other players from injuries... Nick Swisher, Mark Kotsay, Jack Cust, Shannon Stewart and Buck are all competing for playing time in the outfield, and Chris Snelling and Bobby Kielty are expected to come off the disabled list soon." How the mighty have fallen, eh?

I thought he was designated for assignment...Doesn't that mean they have to work out a trade for him, or he's released?

I think it depends on how many options they have left on him. They could just send him down.

Kansas City's deal to acquire volatile outfielder Milton Bradley from Oakland fell through because the Royals were concerned about Bradley's health.

The Royals had agreed to send minor league pitcher Leo Nunez to Oakland for Bradley, who was designated for assignment on Thursday. Dean Taylor, Kansas City's assistant general manager, said the deal was scuttled because Bradley hurt his oblique during his last game with the Athletics.

"There was a health concern on our part concerning Milton, and at this point the trade is dead," Taylor said before Kansas City's game against Milwaukee on Saturday night.

The Royals said Bradley informed them of the injury.

The A's have eight days left to trade or release Bradley. Because he has more than three years of major league service time, Bradley can refuse an assignment to the minor leagues.

Has a big upside though, I would gamble on him...nice guys finish last according to Leo...

It's a big sign that seemingly every team he's been on, he's known as a clubhouse cancer. I would NEVER risk upsetting team chemistry for Bradley when there are plenty of other 'safer' options.

He'll probably get released if some teams are scared off by any possible health concerns. But he'll get a job somewhere.

How many teams has he been on. I remember Indians, Dodgers, A's. He was somehow sent packing from them all.

Swore he was a Pirate two a few seasons ago, but no, I was confused. It was Matt Lawton I was thinking of. All these disgruntled outfielders run together after a while. Although word is the Bucs are one of the teams trying to land Bradley now. So maybe in a few days, I'll actually be right.

The Bucs could do worse...Bradley is actually a bright guy...he might get it together attitude wise...
