| Re: Greatest A's player in Team history... Goth, say what you will, but you asked for the best player in A's history. You can't limit it just to the Oakland guys. Think of all the greats you'd leave out of the mix. So I'm ignoring you and considering all eras of Athletics baseball. Sorry. That said, this is still a tough decision. You've got McGwire, Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson, Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers, Nap Lajoie, Catfish Hunter, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Cochrane, Frank Baker, Connie Mack. Lots of good guys have donned the A's jersey throughout the years. Tough for me to narrow it down to just one.

Well, I was gonna run multiple threads... I forget Henderson in my haste...and Homerun Baker...lol...sure he can be included...Mack's contibution is of a different nature... For my money I have to go with double XX...Jimmy Foxx...they say his homers hit with so much force as to splinter the seats...if there had been no Ruth, we would all know Foxx a bit better... and didn't Lefty Grove pitch for them as well? |

| I don't even think it's arguable - REGGIE. McGwire was never that great for the A's and his greatest years were for the Cardinals and on steroids. Ricky? I would put him 2nd. Pitching wise, I would say Catfish and then Rollie Fingers with Dave Stewart not far behind. |

| Re: Greatest A's player in Team history... I have been going by the first name that pops in my head when I think about the team. Then see if there is anybody better. Ricky Henderson is the first name that pops in my head when I think A's. He played for several teams, but his best were with the A's. On a side note. I googled his stats to see if he played for the team long enough. On my google toolbar, as you enter a search it has a scrolldown window with suggestions. When I typed Ricky, the first name that popped up was Ricky Martin |
