Carl Crawford A's rumors

The Oakland Tribune is reporting that the Athletics could be interested in acquiring Carl Crawford. According to the paper, "The A's have always loved... Crawford, who plays left field and could slide into center field, and Tampa Bay is reportedly willing to shop him."

So what do you think? Should the A's go after Crawford? Will they?

Re: Carl Crawford A's rumors

Crawford could play well if he joins a succesful organization. His speed reminds me of Juan Pierre. A great player to work around in your line-up, but not necessarily your franchise player.

If the Athletics were to trade someone for Crawford, who would go?

The A's need someone who not only has some pop, but can get on base for Thomas and Bradley. He'd be a good pickup- maybe Crawford for Kotsay ( and maybe cash)?

if Crawford goes for Kotsay, I think Oakland hasto throw in a young arm...the A's farm is always full of good young arms...Tampa should hold put for some prospects along with Kotsay...If that's even a possibilty.

MVB: Why would Tampa trade Crawford for Kotsay? Gotham's right - if they're going to trade a huge chip like Crawford - they need to get some serious pitching back.

Yeah, I agree with you guys too... that's why I said "and cash", meaning cash or a minor league prospect.

I don't define Carl Crawford in having some "pop". He is a decent contact hitter, comparable to Johnny Damon and even better, Ichiro Suzuki. However, I would never consider him to bat clean-up or something like that.

Re: Carl Crawford A's rumors

Well, Crawford will hit near 20 homers a year ( and almost the same number of triples) and drives in around 80 RBI a year... But, if he came to the A's, he'd have to be the leadoff hitter. Move Kendall down to the second slot in the lineup, he's great at moving runners over, so I think it'd work out perfectly.

Re: Carl Crawford A's rumors

Carl Crawford is bound to be traded soon, it's just a matter of who gives Tampa the best package for the guy. They've said if they do trade him, they'd do it only if they were getting some equal value which in their eyes is great young pitching most likely.

The A's probably have the weapons to deal but Crawford is creeping up on his free agency years, so they'd have to be careful there.

Re: Carl Crawford A's rumors

The Devil Rays will probably only settle for a player who is around 20 years old with a ton of potential. As I am thinking of a player who fits those criteria, it would probably be the Florida Marlins' Miguel Cabrera.

What do you think about this block-buster trade I thought of:Miguel Cabrera for Carl Crawford? I think this trade would benefit the Devil Rays but doesn't necessarily seem unfair to the Marlins since both of the players have their strengths and weaknesses.
