Re: Notre Dame coach turns up heat

Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis turned up the heat at Monday's indoor practice, the better to simulate the sticky, humid conditions the Irish will face for their season opener against Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
-- Chicago Tribune

See I appreciate the effort their from Charlie, but you already have had a slew of death on the practice fields becuase of heat...do you really need to be creating the condition?

I can see where it could be considered risky, but they're going to be playing in an environment like this. Isn't it more dangerous for the players to go in not knowing what to expect in terms of proper hydration and whatnot? Its not like they forced them outside in a scorching, dry heat - these were controlled conditions, and I assume Gatoraide, water and medical staff were plentiful.

See now....all football should be played on turf inside air condition domes...

...Its early in the season...you should be similating anything for athletes not yet in game shape...

Re: Notre Dame coach turns up heat

Shows that Coach Weis is taking the opener very, very seriously. It is going to be hot under the lights down there next weekend! I think Irish will have tougher time against Georgia Tech than against Penn State--what do you think?

About the domes, that would just be dull. Also astro turf can be some nasty stuff, but the field turf seems better. I have only plaeyd on astro turf though.

I think Charlie knows what he is doing, so I wont argue with that.
