Hawaii Bowl

It is official that Notre Dame will be playing Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl. The 6-6 Irish will have another game to play this season. On Sunday, the Irish accepted an invitation to play against Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl. The Warriors are 7-6 and are looking to add another loss to Notre Dame's season. The Hawaii Bowl will be on Christmas Eve, December 24th. It should be a good one as both teams look ready to win just one more game. “This is a great opportunity for our team to face a quality opponent in their backyard and we’ll need to be ready,” he said. “I know the extra practices this month will really benefit our team and we look forward to ending this season on a good note.”

Who thinks Jimmy Clausen and Charlie Weis can lead this Notre Dame team to a win in Hawaii?

Re: Hawaii Bowl

Sorry, Cougar, but I'm a little disappointed that the Irish decided to accept this bowl bid with their record. There was a time where the program would have been insulted to be offered the Hawaii Bowl, let alone willing to accept such a bid. It just goes to show you how the Irish have fallen, not just on the field, but in the pride of the program.

Look, colleges go through ups and downs. I think people predicted there would be a down after Quinn. When players stay four years, and since there are no trades or free agents, teams can go up and down. Notre Dame is on a down right now. They will be back up soon though.

Notre Dame hasn't exactly had a lot of downs throughout the years. I guess that's what makes this run so tough. I don't mind a few down years here and there, that happens. Its the change in the core attitude that bothers me, that a .500 season and a trip to the Hawaii Bowl is now a success when under Ara, Knute or Lou it would've been an embarrassment.

I understand what your saying, however, they want to play. They want a bowl game even though they finished .500. So would it be a bigger embarassment to not play in a bowl game at all?

I don't think it would of been embarassing at all for ND to decline the bowl invitation. I think if Weis would've declined the invite it would've sent a message to the ND fans that a .500 record is not acceptable to him and shouldn't be rewarded.
