Notre Dame wide receiver Jeff Samardzija, who was drafted by Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs this year, made his minor league debut last week with the Boise Hawks. He tossed 60 pitches over four innings, giving up one run and one hit in the first inning for the Single A ballclub. A slow start, but I'm expecting big things from him as a hurler.
